Drupal, Django, and Alfresco in Chicago

I’ll be in Chicago tomorrow for the Alfresco Meetup. I’ll be speaking during the Barcamp on Alfresco and Drupal integration with CMIS (module, screencast). I’ll also have the Alfresco-Django integration running on my laptop. I may not have time to show Alfresco-Django during my slot, but I’ll be happy to stick around and do informal demos and talk about either integration if you’re interested because I’d like your feedback on it.

The biggest difference is that that one leverages Alfresco’s SOAP Web Services API whereas ours is 100% CMIS via REST. I believe another big difference is that ours gives you the option of moving nodes between the two systems without requiring anything specific from a model perspective on either side. If I remember correctly, that one uses special “Alfresco” nodes on the Drupal side. I can’t remember if it requires anything on the Alfresco side.

We think CMIS is the key to interoperability between Drupal and all kinds of repositories, which is what people face in the real world. We don’t want to have to build one-off integrations between every front-end and every back-end. Hopefully, by leveraging CMIS, we can avoid that.

    Hope that helps,

    Jeff

PS. Thanks for attending the meetup today and listening to the presentation!
